Boiler repair in Coventry

When heating or hot water fails, you need useful information first. We investigate the symptoms, explain what we find and help you decide whether repair or replacement makes sense.

A useful guide

The detail behind the service.

Good heating work starts with understanding the system, the property and what you need it to do.

Boiler breakdowns explained in plain English

When a boiler stops working, the symptom does not always identify the failed part. A useful diagnosis looks at what the boiler is doing, what it is displaying and what the wider heating system is doing. Wells Energy Solutions can discuss repair problems in Coventry and surrounding Warwickshire areas, then explain the sensible next step before work proceeds.

  • Key service details
  • No heating or hot water
  • Low pressure or repeated pressure loss
  • Leaks, unusual noises or a boiler that keeps stopping
  • Fault codes, ignition issues or cold radiators

No heating or hot water

If the boiler is not firing, first check whether there is power, whether the controls are calling for heat and whether the pressure appears unusually low. Some faults are straightforward; others need a qualified engineer to investigate. Do not remove the boiler casing or attempt to work on gas components yourself.

Pressure, leaks and unusual noises

Low pressure can stop some sealed systems from operating, but repeatedly topping up the pressure is not a repair. Repeated pressure loss may relate to a leak, an expansion vessel, a pressure relief component or another system issue. Water around a boiler or pipework should be treated carefully and investigated rather than hidden with repeated resets. Banging, kettling, gurgling or humming noises can have different causes, including circulation or scale-related problems, so the wider system matters.

Fault codes and cold radiators

A fault code is useful information, not a diagnosis by itself. Note the code and the circumstances in which it appears, then share that information with the engineer. Cold radiators may be caused by air, a valve, poor circulation, sludge or a boiler or control problem. The check should distinguish between a single-radiator issue and a system-wide problem.

Repair or replacement?

A repair may be the right answer, especially when the appliance and wider system are otherwise suitable. Replacement may be worth discussing when faults are recurring, parts are difficult to source or the existing system no longer suits the home. The choice should follow diagnosis and a clear explanation, not a rushed assumption. If replacement is appropriate, our boiler installation guide explains the main options.

Questions customers ask

Clear answers before you call.

What information helps with a boiler repair?

The make and model, any display or fault code, the symptoms, and whether the issue affects heating, hot water or both can help frame a useful diagnosis.

What should I do if I have no heating or hot water?

Check the power, heating controls and any visible pressure reading without removing the boiler casing. If the problem remains, call 07807 217124 or 02475 340187 and describe what the boiler is showing.

What does low boiler pressure mean?

Low pressure can prevent some sealed heating systems from operating. A single pressure drop may have a simple cause, but repeated pressure loss needs investigation rather than repeated topping up.

What if my boiler is leaking?

If it is safe, switch off the boiler and isolate water or electricity as appropriate, then call for advice. Do not remove the boiler casing. If you smell gas, follow the emergency guidance and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Are fault codes enough to identify the repair?

No. A code can point the engineer towards a system, but the cause still needs checking in context with the symptoms, pressure, controls and appliance condition.

Why are my radiators cold?

One cold radiator and a whole system of cold radiators can have different causes. Air, valves, circulation, sludge, controls or the boiler may be involved, so the pattern of the problem is useful information.

Can you advise whether to repair or replace?

Yes. We can discuss what has failed, whether the appliance remains suitable and whether replacement is worth considering. If a new boiler is the better route, you can request a boiler quote.

Can I book a boiler service after a repair?

Yes. Annual servicing is a separate check that helps review safety, performance and condition. Visit the boiler servicing page or contact the team to discuss it.
