One cold radiator or many?
The pattern matters. One cold radiator may point to air, a valve or a local restriction. Several cold radiators, cold spots or radiators that only heat in part can point to circulation, balance, sludge, controls or a wider system issue. Note which rooms are affected and whether the boiler is firing.
Do not jump straight to a powerflush
Powerflushing can be useful when sludge and debris are affecting a suitable heating circuit, but it is not a universal cure. A valve, pump, control or boiler fault can produce similar symptoms. A system assessment should identify whether cleaning or a different repair is the sensible route.
What to tell the engineer
Share when the problem started, whether it affects heating or hot water, which radiators are cold, whether the pressure changes and whether there are noises or leaks. These details help distinguish a local radiator issue from a wider central heating problem.
